I Believed I Could Fly... And I Did

Balanced• Strong• Focused•
I still remember the first time I managed to get into and hold crow pose or bakasana -
There were many failed attempts with this particular pose that when I finally managed to do it,
without face planting, I felt an amazing sense of achievement.
This was a milestone in my practice. Not because I was finally doing a fancy pose that I could use as
a cool party trick, but because I knew my determination and commitment to myself was really working.
I had prided myself as being so strong and tough and through the early stages of my practice, I was quickly humbled.
There was a lot of work to be done and it required not only physical strength, but mental and emotional as well.
This is actually what made me really fall in love with yoga. Being able to recognize, explore, develop and strengthen
so many aspects of myself- Yoga was encouraging me to use my body and mind as my teacher, and I found that poetic.
I was really beginning to see and feel changes in my mind and body and was starting to feel
proud of myself for the first time in a long time.
Yoga had my undivided attention and it continues to fuel my desire and determination to keep on going!
